Pregunta:  Who paid for the final major battle of the American Revolution at Yorktown in 1781? 

Respuesta:  The final major battle of the American Revolution was paid for by a collection of gold and silver from the Spanish and Latin American people in Havana, Cuba.  People in the Santo Domingo (now the Dominican Republic) and Puerto Rico contributed as well.  The silver was mined by Mexicans and the gold was mined by Peruvians and Bolivians.  

Pregunta:  When did the Spanish start to help the North Americans and the Continental Army? 

Respuesta:  King Carlos III of Spain began to help the North Americans in 1775 with money and supplies, even before the Declaration of Independence in 1776.  The US Congress and the Continental Army were too poor to buy all of the supplies that they needed to fight the Revolutionary War, so the Spanish and French Kings helped them to get started.

Pregunta:  What type of supplies did the Spanish and Latin Americans send to George Washington and the Continental Army?

Respuesta:  The Spanish and Latin Americans sent gunpowder, clothing, blankets, medicine, guns and other equipment to take care of the Continental Army and help them win the Revolution.

Pregunta:  Why didn't the North Americans buy their own supplies for the Revolutionary War?

Respuesta:  In the 18^th Century, North Americans were a nation of farmers, and they did not have the capability to manufacture their own supplies.  North Americans did not have a strong dollar to buy these supplies in the world markets.  The Continental currency collapsed by 1781.  People in Philadelphia paraded in the streets with paper dollars in their hats, because their money was worthless. 

Pregunta:  When did the Spanish declare war against the British?

Respuesta:  The Spanish declared war against the British in June 21, 1779.  Bernardo de Galvez and his army of Spanish, Latin Americans and North Americans immediately attacked British forts in the areas that are now Louisiana, Alabama and Florida.
